How to Make Lemon Rice Recipe

This is a quick and easy food recipe. To make this we need some spices, cooked rice and some dry fruits like peanuts and cashews. Let us know about the easy method of how to make lemon rice and the ingredients used in it.

Ingredients for Lemon Rice Recipe

  • Cashew nuts – ½  small cup
  • Peanuts – ½  small cup
  • Rice – 1 cup long grain rice (uncooked)
  • Water – 1.5 cup ( for raw rice making )
  • Salt – As per requirement
  • Mustered Seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Dry Red Chilly – 2
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Refined Oil – 2 tbsp ( you can cook in Olive Oil also )
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Curry Leaves – 12 – 14
  • Lemon Juice – 1 – 1.5 tbsp or as per requirement

How to make Lemon Rice Recipe Step by Step

1. To make lemon rice recipe wash 1 cup long grain basmati rice with water two to three times. After washing the rice, soak it in water for about 10 minutes.

2. Remove the water from the soaked rice. Put the rice in the pressure cooker and put 1.5 cups of water in the cooker. Put ¼ teaspoon salt in the pressure cooker. Mix the salt with the rice and close the cooker.


3. Cook the rice on medium heat till 2 whistles. When the pressure in the cooker is over, then open the cooker.

4. Take out the cooked rice from the pressure cooker and keep it in a bowl to cool down. We will use this cooked rice to prepare the recipe later.

5. For frying dry fruits, take 1 tablespoon of refined oil in a frying pan ( you can also use olive oil ). When the oil is hot, add ½ small cup of peanuts to it. Fry the peanuts on low flame till they become crisp. Keep in mind that there is no raw water in the peanuts and the peanuts should be cooked completely. Take out the fried peanuts in a bowl.

6. After frying peanuts in a frying pan, add ¼ small cup of cashew nuts in the remaining oil and fry them on low flame till they become light golden. Take out the fried cashews in a bowl.

7. After frying dry fruits, take 1 tsp refined oil in the frying pan. (You can also take olive oil). When the oil becomes hot, put mustard seeds in it, when the mustard seeds start crackling, put 12 to 14 curry leaves in it, add 2 dry red chilies, after that add ½ teaspoon turmeric powder and mix this spice mixture with a spoon.

8. Add fried dry fruits – cashews and peanuts to the cooked rice.

9. Now put the tempering of mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chilly to the cooked rice.

10. After that Mix the tadka and dry fruits with the rice well with a spoon.

11. Now extract the juice of 1 to 2 lemons.

12. Mix 1 to 1.5 teaspoon lemon juice well with rice.

13. The sourness is very important in lemon rice recipe. If you want more sourness then you can mix 2 to 3 spoons in rice according to your taste.
